This was originally submitted by emily3936 in our forums, and was such a good guide that we promoted it to an article. Thank you emily!!

With a USB cable, you can easily connect Droid X to your computer. (If you are the first time to connect your Droid X to PC, you will be reminded of installing the Motorola Drive. Just install it. And do not forget to insert your memory card into your Droid X.)

Step-by-step guide on how to transfer or copy photos, music and more to Droid X:

Step 1: Mount Motorola Droid X to you computer via USB.

Step 2: Take the Droid X and go to Notifications (there are two ways you can realize it: Touch the nitification bar at the top of the Droid X’s screen and drag it down, or press Menu  - > Notifications). Then touch USB connection.

So I was stumbling around the internet the other day and I came across a post on how to run Android on your laptop or computer from a USB stick. Basically it involves the use of an ISO disk image of Android written for the x86 processor architecture. As a computer geek I thought this was a cool concept and I wondered, could I use the Android x86 ISO file to power up a Virtual Machine on Microsoft's Virtual PC?

If you are like me and you have an Outlook Exchange system at work, then you may have noticed that depending on the Android OS version you have your contacts don't necessarily come into your phone, unless you have Android 2.1. However even in that version the contacts are still not always linked up perfectly.

Here are some steps you can take to do this.

  • Go to File > Import and Export
  • Select Export to a File, and click Next
  • Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next
  • Select folder to Export from : Contacts and click Next
  • Save exported file as : save to somewhere on your desktop, it does not matter what the name is and click Next
  • Click Finish
  • Go into your Gmail account
  • Enter your Contacts
  • Click on the Import hyperlink on the upper right of the screen
  • Choose File  : open up the file you saved on your desktop and click Open
  • At this point you can chose if you want to place the imported contacts into a new contact group
  • Click Import
  • If you decided to do a new contact group you are prompted to enter the new name of this group
  • Click Ok after the import is completed

Your contacts have now been imported you can now manage them from within Google and reverse the process as well. In addition you can also merge contacts within Google for any duplicated contacts that were not caught through the import.
