WiFinder app provides a fast search for WiFi hotspots wherever you are. WiFinder will enable your WiFi when you start your search and disable it for you, when you are finished using the program. Quickly enter your own secured wireless network or search for an available public connection.

You can download this on the Market here.

WiFinder app enables your WiFi card to find secured and unsecured wireless connections where you are. Wifinder provides superb ease of use and will quickly access nearby wireless connections. If you keep your WiFi disabled to save battery power,  WiFinder will prompt you to enable your WiFi when the program is opened. After you press "Yes" to enable your WiFi you will see a blank screen with a button that says "New Scan" in the upper right corner of the screen. Press the "News Scan" button and WiFinder will conduct a search of nearby wireless connections. If WiFi is available near you, the results should look similar to the screen shot below left.

When WiFinder completes the search you will see a listing of wireless connections by SSID tag. WiFinder also provides basic information about each connection including, method of encryption, channel, strength of signal and locked or unlocked. If you are searching for a public unlocked connection, simply press the check box that states "Show only open Ap" and run a new scan. The resulting list as seen above right, will only displayed SSID's with stars under Encryption, indicating it is an unsecured connection. To activate your wireless connection press the box containing the desired SSID. If the signal is encrypted you will be prompted to enter in a password similar to the screen shot below left.

If you are accessing an open connection all that is required of you is to press the connect button (as seen above right) when prompted to do so. Upon completion of using WiFinder the program will ask if you want to disable your WiFi, allowing you conserve battery power.

WiFinder's provides the ability to quickly search for open WiFi networks from your home screen, and will only engage your WiFi as needed. From my experience it has been a stable program that allows me to conserve battery power by only accessing my WiFi when needed. It is simple to use and decreases the time required to search for new connections.
