BenchmarkPi does what it says, it uses Pi to benchmark the processing speed of your phone. BenchmarkPi uses an undisclosed number of digits in the sequenced calculation of Pi to determine the processing speed of your phone. If you want to know how your phone stacks up against other Android phones on the market today, then try it out. You can find BenchmarkPi on the Market here.
If you are looking for traditionally specific benchmarks for processing speeds this is not the app for you. If you are intersted in a benchmark that is becoming more widely used as a means of adjusting the processing capabilities of your phone, then BenchmarkPi will work just fine. If you want to know the processing speed differential between when your phone is running certain programs and not, then BenchmarkPi is a useful tool to base such a calculation on.
Once you install BenchmarkPi, click "Benchmark my Android". Once the calculation has been made you will be provided a numerical representation of how fast your phone can calculate Pi, to an undisclosed number of digits. This score can be compared with other Android users, or can be used by you to fine tune processing speeds, by closing specific programs. Tip: For best speed results shut down all running programs and place your phone in airplane mode. BenchmarkPi is a simple to use and understand program that will test the processing speed of your phone. BenchmarkPi was created by Konstantinos Polychronis.
Here is our video of this application in action (look at about 2:36);
