Google provides a new search tool that makes navigating through your phone a breeze. Simply write the letter of the word or name you are searching for in your phone and the gesture detection app will find it. (Does not work on v1.5)

Download this app on the Market here.

When you first open the app you will want to alter the search items list, so that you are only search through the file types you are interested in. You can search Browser Bookmarks, Contacts, Apps, and Music files. Once you have the app setup, then activate the app and draw the letter you would like to search for. In the example below we will search for items containing the letter B.

The letter B shown above is crudely drawn but Gesture Search has little problem identifying what has been entered. You can draw upper and lowercase letters. The search is fast and accurate, resulting in a list of files on your phone with the search letter highlighted. You can use a combination of letters to increase your search accuracy.

This is a incredibly fast and simple application that will make quick work of any file search on your phone. It is especially useful when searching through your contact list for a number you don't call often.

Gesture Search was created by Google Inc.
