For those of you who liked challenging word puzzles, look no further than the free app, Word Up. This game is similar to the old board game Boggle. Download this on the Market here.
The settings allow you to change the scoring from either total points (scored by the number of words found and their length, longer words being worth more) or the percentage (number of words found out of those possible), change the dictionary style, the amount of time allowed for each puzzle, and even the color of the letter squares. The difficulty can be changed in two ways, either by the number of letters which can be done by changing the number of letters per row between three and five or you can change the minimum length of the words in the puzzle.
The game play is simple, just click on a letter and drag to highlight the rest of the letters for the word of your choice. The words must be horizontal or vertical, no diagonals. Correct words show up in blue, incorrect in red and when a word is found the first time it is listed under the puzzle for future reference. The number of words in each puzzle will range even with the same settings but the small the puzzle and the longer the minimum length of the words, the fewer overall choices will be available. In my playing experienced I have even encountered a puzzle with just one possible word, get it right and you just got 100%.
Puzzle sizes increase the amount of words that can be found and up the difficulty, Beginner 3 letters X 3 letters, Standard 4 letters X 4 letters, Master 5 letters X 5 letters, Expert 6 letters X 6 letters. If you are playing on the larger puzzles you will be hard pressed to get anywhere close to complete on all of the words available!
