Yesterday provided us with the launch we wanted and expected. The Google Nexus One thrust into existence and another stellar Android handset was released to the world. With the start of CES 2010 we expect even more releases of Android based handsets. Some of these expected releases include two new handsets from Motorola, including the companies first AMOLED screen phone. Another rumor targets the release of the LG LS680, reported to possibly be heading for Sprint. We expect great new handsets operating on the Android OS at CES 2010. What we didn't expect was that Android is more than meets the eye!

Take for example: The worlds first "Social Media Center for Android-Based Embedded Platforms", is expected to be unveiled by HomeJinni at CES 2010. HomeJinni stated their product will be released with a, "mission to address the complexities of the connected home and enable consumers to maximize the use and enjoyment of their digital lives." When we hear the words "digital lives", we typically think of a laptop, smartphone, or even a Nexus One "superphone" as was coined yesterday by Google. However, as you are about to see

Android is no longer tied to just mobile devices.

Imagine it's time to wash your laundry. You open the washing machine and drop in your clothes just like any other time. Then you operate the Android based touch screen interface embedded into the front of your washing machine. Perhaps you can even remotely operate and check the status of the cleaning process with your mobile device. This is the world we are now entering thanks to the Android OS.

While you are waiting for your clothes to finish washing, you decide to pick up your eDGe tablet / e-reader, to organize your ebook collection. The eDGe will be operated on an Android platform, will have a 1.3 megapixel camera with microphone, a webkit browser,  9.7" e-ink screen in black and white on the left and a 10.1" color touch screen on the right. Information can be passed between screens and the left black and white e-reader screen supports a stylus pen. When you are finished with your reading it is time to relax the brain, with some good old television.

MIPS Technologies announced plans to design set-top boxes, running on the Android platform. This will allow your set-top box to run a variety of applications! MIPS expects to use this platform as a viable addition to products including Blu-ray disc players and digital TVs.

With all the fun your are having with your new digital tools, you will need a central source to organize your now digital life. We saved the best CES rumor for last with this one! It was reported by Australian Tech site smarthouse.com that HTC and Google, have been in the works on a new tablet device for the past 18 months. There are rumors that HTC will privately demo an Android version of this device at CES 2010. The tablet is expected to include a touch screen interface, new Qualcomm processors, and new software from Adobe.

CES 2010 is beginning to look like a breakout event for the Android OS and we hope the devices listed above are only a taste of what we are going to actually see. CES 2010 starts on Jan. 7th -10th and AndroidAnarchy.com along with @AndroidAnarchy on twitter, plan to bring you the best of Android from the show.
